It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of La Fern Fisher, who departed from this Earth on April 15, 2025 at the age of 67. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Temple, Texas after a long battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1958 in Florence, Texas, La Fern was the beloved daughter of Jesse Sr. and Kathryn Fisher. She was a graduate of Florence High School in 1978. She was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community. Her favorite hobbies were finding/planning garage sales, finding the best snow cones in town (everyone knew she loved her shaved ice), potting flowers, finding creative ideas for sewing projects, going shopping for hours whether it was in the store or her favorite online stores Temu & SHEIN. Her favorite of them all was going out to eat with family & friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Briana of Houston, siblings Kathy (Robert) Gregg of Los Angeles, Geneva Sharpe of Round Rock, Jesse Fisher Jr. (Pam - deceased) of Youngsport and Lon Fisher of Round Rock. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Cory (Terri) Davis, Robert (Rachelle) Gregg, Regina (Timothy) Willis, Shawna Davis, Gregory Sharpe, and Chance (Shawnee) Fisher. La Fern leaves behind a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and life-long friends Irene Osuna, Fred Osuna and David Merideth. She is also lovingly survived by her goddaughter, Jazzmen Ortiz of Houston, who held a special place in her heart and shared a bond that was just like family.
La Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Sr. and Kathryn Fisher, sister-in-law Pam and niece Stephanie Gregg.
La Fern was retired, but spent her entire career working at Pactiv Evergreen (formerly Mobil Chemical) in Temple. She was a devoted member of 10th and M Church of Christ, and remained active until her health no longer allowed. She loved spending time with family, including her god-granddaughter Layla and great-great-niece Kapreese.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2pm-6pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 1pm at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Liberty Hill (3800 N Bagdad Rd, Liberty Hill, TX).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society, in honor of La Fern Fisher (906 N. 16th, Temple, TX 76501).
