1922 - 2014
Lucy passed away on April 10, 2014 after a brave late in life battle with cancer. At 91 years of age, facing the unexpected, she inspired those around her with her strength and grace. She was a generous and loving wife, mother and grandmother who led a full and wonderful life.
Lucy was born in Danbury, Connecticut on September 23, 1922. She was the youngest of eight children and shared close relationships with her five brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Danbury High School she went on to study at the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut where she graduated and began a career as a Registered Nurse. She served for two years as an officer in the Navy Nurse Corp.
It was during that time that she met Al Besozzi, a corpsman in the Navy. They married in September of 1946 and resided in New York City and later in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1966. Lucy lived there for thirty years. It was there she began a career as a Patient Relations Representative at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. She served as an Italian interpreter for patients traveling from Italy for open-heart surgery. Her work brought her a great deal of satisfaction and joy.
Following Al's death in 1996, Lucy remained in Houston for several years until moving to Georgetown, Texas in 2000. She enjoyed her 14 years here and was an active member of the community and her church community at St. Helen Catholic Church.
Lucy loved languages, books, travel and a good crossword puzzle. She was a gracious host to all who entered her home and loved to engage people in conversation.
