He was born in Florence, Texas on November 20, 1941 to Jimmie Green Stearns and Jewel LaFray (Morgan) Stearns. He graduated in 1960 from Georgetown High School. On May 27, 1964 he married Shayrol Ann Sbriglia.
Lyndon served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1968. He worked for Western Electric and General Telephone Electronics and retired from GTE after 30 years of employment. He was also self-employed, working in auto restoration and as a general contractor. He was a lifetime resident of Georgetown until he moved to Jarrell in 2004. His lifelong hobby was restoring antique cars, and he was well-known throughout the community for his restoration skills. Lyndon was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, and at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and LaFray Stearns, his sister, Jewel “Marie” Stearns Mitchell, and brother-in-law, Wayne Mitchell. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Shayrol “Shay” Stearns; children, Douglas Bradley Stearns and wife Virgie and Katharine Marie Stearns Beran and husband Kyle. His grandchildren are Jesse Felter, Crystal Stearns Preston and Chad Preston, Nikki Stearns Urekar, Megan Stearns Garner, Dale Andrew Beran, Michael Stearns, and Lyndsay Beran; great-grandchildren, Ty Crothers, Chase Preston, Lillyana Urekar, Caeden Preston and Cecilia Preston, and his brother is Larry Gaylon Stearns.
The family will gather for visitation on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown and again on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Georgetown. A funeral service celebrating Lyndon’s life will begin at 10:00 a.m., following the visitation at the church. He will be laid to rest at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Florence.
Honoring Lyndon as pallbearers will be Nathan Hartzell, Jesse Hartzell, David Hartzell, Ben Hartzell, Randall Cantwell, Matt Stump, Johnny Martone and J.R. Martone. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Payne, Larry Alexander, Bill Tennyson, Buck Jones, John Grant, Marvin Mueller and Craig Wright.
