Lynn John Kassner passed from this world just before midnight on Thursday, June 16, 2011. A visitation and Rosary will be held Monday, June 20 from 6-8 pm at The Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown. A mass to celebrate Lynn’s life will take place at St. Helen’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10am with interment to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in Seguin at 3:00pm. Lynn was born in San Antonio on August 26, 1946 to Robert and Martha Rabel Kassner. Lynn grew up on Lake McQueeney graduating from Seguin High School in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart Connie Haas on December 3, 1966 in Seguin. Shortly afterwards, they relocated to Austin where they began a family with the birth of their daughter, Christy and where Lynn began a long career with IBM followed by 10 years at Applied Materials. They ultimately built a house and settled in Georgetown in 1977 where they remained until his untimely death. Lynn was a true outdoorsman enjoying anything outside; hunting, fishing, barbequing, boating, skiing, camping or just sitting outside on his patio listening to old country music with friends and family. Lynn leaves behind his wife of 44 years Connie Haas Kassner; his daughter, Christy Kassner Scheel and her husband Michael Scheel; his grandchildren Trenton and Grace Scheel; his mother, Martha Kassner; his sister Ruby Krebs and her husband Clayton Krebs; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Barbara Haas; nieces and nephew; and his special pug buddy, his dog Lily Dale. There are a whole host of other family members and friends too numerous to count as Lynn did not know a stranger. He could always be counted on for a great laugh with a joke or a wild story – he lived life to the fullest every day and he will be missed by many for a long time. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Austin Christopher House and Warm Springs Specialty Hospital of Luling – Therapy Garden. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
