It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Ann Supak Valenta of Jarrell, Texas, who left this world peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 83.
She was our teacher, our confidante, and our greatest champion. She taught us the value of faith, hard work, education, leadership, and, above all, the importance of family.
Mary Ann was born at her family home in Granger, Texas on December 20, 1941, the daughter of Adolph and Bernice Supak. From an early age, she demonstrated a gift for music and a natural talent for math. In her youth, she expressed herself through various musical instruments including the accordion, cornet, piano, and organ. She participated in her high school band, played various instruments with her siblings at local events and played the organ and piano in church. She attended Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and graduated from Granger High School.
She married the love of her life, Johnnie Timothy Valenta, on January 6, 1962, and together, over 63 years, they built a home filled with extended family, faith, love and service, all the while preserving the richness of their Czech heritage.
Mary Ann was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took great pride in her professional career. She spent over 40 years working as an accountant, beginning her career with Taylor Savings and Loan. In addition, she proudly worked for the IBM Federal Credit Union and the City of Georgetown among others. She was respected for her skills and leadership.
She also served her community as a 4-H Adult leader and taught religious education for St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas for many years. She was a member of the Granger KJZT Society and the Corn Hill KJT Society.
Mary Ann loved to bake - especially kolaches and strudel - nurture her vegetable garden, and her flowering blooms, especially her heirloom roses and African violets. She took great pride in turning her harvested vegetables into canned red beets and dill pickles.
She also possessed a remarkable talent with her hands. A skilled seamstress, she poured love into every stitch - whether crafting clothes for her children or creating beautiful handmade quilts and baby blankets that became family heirlooms. Her creativity and patience were evident in every stitch, and her sewing was more than a craft - it was an expression of her love and dedication.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Corn Hill in Jarrell, Texas. She loved participating in the Holy Trinity Czech Heritage mass, using her fluent knowledge of
the Czech language, and wearing the traditional Czech Beseda dress. She also tirelessly compiled a Holy Trinity legacy book, capturing the 125-year history of the church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Johnnie Valenta; three children; and eleven grandchildren. Her children are John Valenta and his late wife, Kathleen Valenta, of Schwertner, Texas; Katherine Kissmann and husband, Marcus Kissmann, of College Station, Texas; and Rebecca Bilicek and husband, Steven Bilicek, of Richmond, Texas.
