Melvin Eugene Stewart

Melvin Eugene Stewart, age 93, of Florence, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was born in Blanket, Texas on June 4, 1917 to parents Thomas Franklin Stewart and Eleta May (Blanton) Stewart.

Melvin grew up in a time when a man’s word meant something and that is how he lived his life. He never drank, smoked or even said a cuss word. Melvin loved to fish, traveling where he saw different parts of the country and attending art shows. He was the Trustee of the United Methodist Church in Florence. Melvin loved to visit with people never meeting a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Preceding him death are his parents Thomas and May Stewart, sister Ione Rutledge, brother Dale Stewart and grandson Jason Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Olene Stewart of Florence, Texas; sons, Lyndell Stewart and wife Nancy of Florence, Texas, Donnie Stewart of Cedar Park, Texas, Randy Stewart of Temple, Texas and Hershel Stewart and wife Pat of Georgetown, Texas; brother, Z.T. Stewart of Bangs, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.

The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Young Memorial Chapel in Florence, Texas. A private graveside service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
