She was the big sister to her twin brother and sister, David and Deborah (Denney) Mossman. She always tried to make them behave the way she thought they should. Rachel lived in Georgetown, Texas with her family, where she graduated from high school in 1986. Rachel enjoyed playing volleyball in high school, and was in the school choir, where she got to sing “tenor” and did a beautiful job of that.
She attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, and graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, on May 11, 1990 Rachel’s skill at playing volleyball throughout high school years helped to provide a college scholarship. She always seemed to excel at this sport and have fun at the same time.
Rachel’s commitment to doing her best gave her a strong work ethic. She was considered a valuable employee of Applied Materials where she worked for several years. Her work associates and especially her team have a lot of fun memories of some of the “antics” Rachel pulled. She always gave reason to be ready to smile and laugh when she was around.
Rachel always enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed any opportunity to go biking, kayaking, and gardening. She had a tireless personality to enjoy life and make anyone around her laugh at some silly joke, or prank, or just a funny way of responding to any conversation.
Rachel is a “favorite” aunt to her two nephews, Luke and Samuel. How many aunts can jump on a trampoline like Aunt Rachel can, and send funny cards and act silly if just talking on the telephone?
Rachel had a love for animals and greatly spoiled her two dogs. She always had a compassionate spirit and was unbelievably gracious to her friends and neighbors. She was willing to go the second mile to help someone in need, and her friends truly loved Rachel.
All of her uncles, aunts, cousins and great nieces have fond memories of Rachel,and her generous spirit. She expressed her love to those around her that she cared about.
A memory of Rachel will always bring a smile to our faces, as we remember the pranks and funny way she had of just being Rachel. Her name was always a special reminder for all of us and it meant
“God’s little lamb”. I am sure she is frolicking in God’s pasture laughing and enjoying being who she is.
Poem – written by Rachel’s brother – David
“Coming Home Sweet Jesus”
I’m coming home Sweet Jesus. It’s time for me to leave;
From this earth of friends and family
And those who stood with me.
Lord, please be with them during this time that we are apart.
Lord, may they feel your presence in the depthis of their hearts.
I’m traveling home today, it’s my turn to go;
To tread along the Crystal Sea, to walk upon the streets of gold.
Lord, I can’t wait to give You a hug.
And so my Lord, my King, may the people that I knew,
Stay focused on Heaven.
May they concentrate their hearts on You;
Because I’m coming home Sweet Jesus
At my resting place to stay.
To live again forever, in your Holy House of Praise
David Mossman
