Ruby Lee Dixon left her earthly home in Houston, Texas on her 90th birthday, March 28th, 2019, to join her husband, parents, siblings, and loved ones gone before her to her eternal resting place. She is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Dixon, parents Ida P. and James Brown, four brothers, Willard Brown, Bill Brown, Elton Brown and Joe Brown; two sisters, Elizabeth Brown and Lorene Dixon. She is survived by two sons, Harold Dixon, Joe Dixon and wife Mary; two daughters, Peggy Brown and husband Guy and Edna Mackey. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Ruby grew up in and around the Florence, Texas area and attended school there. She met her future husband, through the husband of her only living sister as they were brothers. Ruby and Ervin were married on June 8, 1946, upon his return from WWII. They started their family and raised the two boys and two girls from infancy to adulthood.
Ruby was a long-time member of the Florence TOPS group and made many friends and traveled many places to their various functions with the group. She never met a stranger and was always good for a conversational visit or a bingo game.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Florence. Ruby will be buried in the Florence Cemetery beside her beloved husband Ervin.
