

Sherrie Ann Walter, 53, most recently of Austin, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. A service celebrating Sherrie’s life and her faith will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of San Angelo, 37 East Beauregard, San Angelo, Texas 76903. The family requests that those who attend the service wear colorful attire as a tribute and celebration of Sherrie’s life. Honoring her wishes, Sherrie’s family will inter her remains in the columbarium at First United Methodist Church of San Angelo at a later date. Sherrie was born July 22, 1958 in Brady, Texas to Bert Mansfield and Silva Ann Speck. After graduating from Bronte High School in 1976, she worked for several businesses in the San Angelo area, two of which were Wool Growers and San Angelo National Bank. Accomplishing one of her lifetime goals, Sherrie attended Angelo State University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2007. As a teacher with Temple ISD, she worked with many underprivileged children and enjoyed helping these students succeed. Most recently Sherrie lived in the Austin area and worked as a Purchasing Agent for the State of Texas Public Finance Authority. Although she relocated to Austin, her heart always remained in San Angelo, the town that she forever loved. She was passionate about volunteering for various local causes, notably the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, West Texas Boys Ranch, March of Dimes and Concho Country Chrysalis. Sherrie was completely devoted to her family, her children and her granddaughter, and found great joy in uplifting others. She always strived to make others happy and enjoyed taking care of those she loved, including her faithful and loving cat, Sam. All who knew her will remember her contagious smile, her lively personality, and her faith in God. She will truly be missed. Sherrie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Cecil and Beatrice of Mansfield; maternal grandparents, John and Ruby Speck; and uncle, Frederick Speck. Sherrie leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Drs. Reagan and Douglas Larsen of Temple, and Travis Mackey and Crystal Rodriguez of San Angelo; granddaughter, Avery Ann Larsen; father and stepmother, Bert and Billie Mansfield; mother and stepfather, Silva and Kerry Davis; sisters, Gay Dickson and husband Randy, Wendy Herring and husband Jimmy Joe, and Julie Devine and husband Michael; nephew, Austin Dickson; and nieces, Taylor Dickson, Heidi, Haiden and Halle Herring, Emily and Sarah Devine; best friend, Phyllis Van Court; along with numerous other loving family and friends. Memorial contributions in Sherrie’s honor may be sent to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the Concho Country Chrysalis Scholarship Fund.
