Stephen "Steve" Harley Stover passed away peacefully in Georgetown, Texas surrounded by family and friends. Steve was born in Neosho, Missouri on November 30, 1944. He served in the US Army before he married his wife, Ruby Pearl Paxton on September 28, 1968 in Lakewood, California.
Steve was a man after God's own heart, an avid golfer and a loving family man. His smile lit the room and his handshake was in a league of its own. He honored God with his life and lived out his faith in small and impactful ways. Steve took great pleasure in the simple things...breakfast, lunch and dinner. He loved a good Philly cheese steak sandwich and anything whipped up by his beautiful wife of 48 years, the light and love of his life. In his world Laurel and Hardy were the greatest comedians of all time, USC was the greatest college team and nobody could call a baseball game like Vin Scully.
He was larger than life to his kids, Kent and Shaleen. The memory of his laugh, his love for their mother, his unshakable integrity and his love for God will never be forgotten. He took great joy in being a grandpa and immensely enjoyed attending football games and concerts for his two grandsons.
A Godly man whose life left its mark upon many, great will be his heavenly reward. II Timothy 4:7 truly reflects this life, well-lived for Jesus, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Georgetown, Texas; son, Kent and daughter-in-love, Sheree and grandsons, Kaden and Austin all of Copperas Cove, Texas; daughter, Shaleen of Austin, Texas; sister, Paulette Nelson and husband Brian of The Woodlands, Texas; brother-in-law, Jerry Jones of Fredericksburg, Texas; and several nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Harley and Shirley Stover and his sister, Gloria Jones.
