Steve "Jack" Shelton West

Steve Shelton West, lovingly known as Jack, passed away at the age of 92, on Monday, May 31, 2010 with his family at his side. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH35, Georgetown, Texas. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11:00AM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas. Jack a native Texan was born October 3, 1917 in Dripping Springs, Texas to the late Steve William and Lonnie Mae Waley West. Jack grew up in Liberty Hill, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Liberty Hill High School. He loved sports and played football for the Liberty Hill Panthers. He was well known after his junior year in high school because he scored all the touchdowns that season for the football team. He married his wife, Charlotte on March 9, 1974. Jack worked for the State of Texas in the Rehabilitation Commission Office as an Internal Mail Distributor, retiring in 1980. After retirement he farmed for several years until he sold the family farm in Leander and he and Charlotte moved back to Liberty Hill, in 2000. Charlotte and Jack were long time members of the Leander United Methodist Church and transferred their membership in the ‘90’s to Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Steve William West and Lonnie Mae Willey. Jack leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Charlotte West; his son, Steve Waley West and his wife Lucille Marie; and three stepsons, David Dunn, Darrel Dunn and his wife Kimberly and Douglas Dunn and his wife Kathy; sister, Velma Fae Kirschner; grandchildren, Stephanie Dunn, Jacob Dunn and his wife Sarah, Becky West, Kyle Dunn; along with a host of other loving family members and friends. Memorial donations may be made in Jack’s memory to the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church or to the Over the Hill Gang.
