After a life of joy and adventure, Walter patiently endured health challenges until the day he closed his eyes at home and opened them for his greatest adventure in heaven. First and foremost, he loved the Lord Jesus. He enjoyed being together with his family camping, traveling, fishing, boating, hunting, designing and building homes, and photography. He always put others before himself.
Walter was born July 17, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas. After graduating from Lamar University, he worked most of his career as a Xerox salesman. He served as a tank commander during his nine years in the Texas National Guard.
Walter was blessed with 59 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Blanche. They had three children: Mark, Matthew, and Peggy. His twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren brought him such joy. His extended family cared deeply for him just as he did for them.
Dad was a leader for Mark’s Boy Scout troop, attended every one of Matthew’s football games, and always welcomed help from his little shadow, Peggy. He taught Sunday School with his wife, and mentored new people at work. He was truly a great friend to all!
