Margaret Kathleen Skipper Dunn

Margaret Kathleen Skipper Dunn, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at Georgiana Health & Rehabilitation Center in Georgiana, Al at the age of 81. Born and raised Georgiana, Al, Kathleen graduated from Georgiana High School in 1951, serving as a cheerleader and as Homecoming Queen. Kathleen married Lee R. Dunn, Jr and immediately moved to South Carolina where Lee was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. She helped raise their three sons while moving many times as Lee's military assignments changed. Kathleen served as a leader in the Wives Club and enjoyed square dancing on base with Lee. She performed volunteer work in dental clinics, and upon retirement from the Air Force and relocation back to Georgiana, she worked as a dental hygienist and then as a saleswoman for several years in the dry goods department of Taylor's Store. Kathleen was an avid sports fan and she enjoyed gardening at home, producing a colorful array of flowers. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Gracie Mae Booker Skipper, and O.R. (Bud) Skipper. She is survived by her husband, Lee R. Dunn, Jr, Georgiana, Al; 3 Sons: Steven (Laurie) Prentice-Dunn, Northport, Al, Greg Dunn Fletcher, N.C., and David Dunn, Lawrenceville, Ga; 2 Grand Children; Sisters: June Skipper Whittle, Georgiana, Al and Mary Ann Skipper (Yancey) Lynn, Prattville, Al; Brothers: Richard (Joyce) Skipper and Donnie (Lou Era) Skipper, both of Georgiana, Al. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Al directing. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday from 1 p.m. until funeral time. The family requests that in lieu of Flowers, contributions be made to Georgiana Health & Rehab Activity Department, 206 Palmer Ave., Georgiana, Al 36033.
