Gary L Wilkins

There will be a small gathering for family and friends on Monday, Jul 21, 2025, at 10:00 am at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.

Gary was born on February 17, 1947, to Dean and Edith (Demaree) Wilkins in Scottsbluff. He attended both elementary and high school in Scottsbluff. He later married his high school sweetheart, Vikkie Schmidt in 1969.

They began their lives together in Gering where he worked as an over the road truck driver. Soon after, they welcomed their son James. Gary later resigned from truck driving after a serious accident. He then worked for Lockwoods as a field technician. Later, he shifted occupations to the City of Scottsbluff as a heavy equipment operator where he worked for 30+ years until his retirement.

Gary is known for his easy going personality and good sense of humor. He never met a stranger and loved visiting with friends and family.

His survivors include: his son James and wife Gail Wilkins. Two grandkids; Dylan Wilkins and Ashley and her husband Anthony Ibarra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dean and Edith Wilkins, and his wife Vikkie Wilkins.
