Jeanette "Jan" H (Schilreff) Libsack

Jeanette H. “Jan” Libsack, 76, of Gering: her precious soul has finally lost the battle with Parkinson’s disease. She passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland, Colorado. Her Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Our mom was born February 11, 1943 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Elmer and Helen (Bruntz) Schilreff. She received her education in Gering, graduating from Gering High School with the Class of 1961. She started working at a young age as a carhop at the Arrowhead Restaurant where she used her tip money to buy her a 1955 Ford, which was gunmetal grey with lakers. She was very proud of that car! Here is where she met Terry Libsack whom she married on November 6, 1965 at Scottsbluff, NE.

Mom had a great work ethic, she worked throughout the area at the following places: The Spur Café, $.88 Store, Green Stamp Store, Tempo (18 years) and McCosh Drug (18 years). She loved to be around people and decorate for all the holidays. She retired early to take care of her husband and mother. Mom always took care of someone else before herself. She was the kindest soul you would ever meet.

She was a member of the American Legion in Gering. She loved to go snowmobiling, playing Keno, gambling, watching NASCAR Racing on Sundays and watching the Young and The Restless soap opera. She really loved spending time with her children, especially during the holiday, as this was her favorite time of year.

Jan is survived by her son Terrance Libsack of Gering; daughter and son-in-law Shan and Wade Olsen of Gering; an uncle; and aunt; a niece; nephews; and numerous cousins.

Jan was preceded in death by her infant brother, her parents, her in-laws, her husband Terry, and sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Roger Grasmick.

She lost the battle but she gave it a heck of a good fight!!
