Joshua Christopher Ruzicka

Joshua Christopher Ruzicka was born June 22, 1982, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Christopher and Melanie (Rowlee) Ruzicka. Josh passed away at RWMC and entered his eternal home January 6th, 2025, at the age of 42. Josh received his early education at Lincoln Elementary School in Gering, Nebraska, later graduating from Gering High School in the spring of 2000. After the events of 9/11, Josh felt called to serve his country, enlisting in the USMC April 14th, 2003. He served several tours, deploying to the Middle East and earned the rank of Sergeant, he was honorably discharged April 13, 2007. He returned home after his service and joined the Gering Volunteer Fire Department and began work at Gering Valley Plumbing before feeling the need to once again help others and began his career at Valley Ambulance as an EMT, where he received his paramedic license. He then received his SWAT Medic Certification becoming 1 of 2 SWAT medics in Scotts Bluff County. He then was promoted to lead paramedic. After Valley Ambulance, he furthered his career and the need to continue to serve the public and became a Sheriff’s Deputy before retiring due to declining health in 2022.

He is survived by children Gage, Jett, Chloe and Carlie Ruzicka; his parents Christopher and Melanie Ruzicka; Grandma Joyce “Hettinger” Rowlee all of Gering, Nebraska. His brother Ryan (Megan Lillard) Ruzicka; nephew and niece Bryson and Baylor Ruzicka of Lyman, Nebraska.  Josh had numerous Aunts and Uncles that were all special to him. Last but, not least, he is survived by his yellow labrador retriever, Diablo.

Josh is preceded by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather and two uncles.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at VFW Post 1681, 2710 10th St, Gering, Nebraska, 69341, where dinner will be provided.  A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
