Lois Brown McFarland

Lois Brown McFarland, 83, of Gering, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Bob Haverick officiating. A memorial has been established to the Disabled American Veterans. Friends may call at Gering Memorial Chapel Sunday, July 29, 2012 between 1-6:00 p.m. Lois was born August 13, 1928 in Sidney, NE to Glen and Mary (Barkhoff) Wilkins. She moved to Gering in 1936 and married Chet Brown May 29, 1946, who preceded her in death in 1985. She married Charles McFarland in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Lois retired in 1988 with twenty-five years in nursing services at Regional West Medical Center. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Survivors include her sons: Michael (Jaci) Brown of Westminster, CO and Stephen (Jan) Brown of Loveland, CO; daughters: Lyn (Robert) Martin, Loveland, CO and Holly Brown of Gering, NE; sister Sharon Lundquist, Scottsbluff, NE; stepsons: Vince, Leonard, Ron and Chuck McFarland; 11 Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Karen Jo Brown, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Mom will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
