Dave was a unique character with a dry sense of humour and enjoyed being philosophical and loved a good debate.
Dave was an avid reader and had a thirst for knowledge and art. He was a very talented painter and musician. He taught himself how to play piano, and would spend hours entertaining the “Round Island Crew” as they enjoyed bonfires listening to his music emanating from the bungalow window through the night.
If you didn’t know him personally, you probably noticed him around wearing one of his bucket hats. He had quite the collection.
Fondly known as “Fozzy The Bear” by his childhood friends, Dave formed friendships over his life journey, working in numerous places and was active with Community Involvement Of the Disabled. Most recently he was employed with Modular Fabrication in Ontario where he was considered family and gained the reputation of being quite the character. Dave was unapologetically true to himself. He would give you the shirt off his back, and was incredibly appreciative of any help he received. As a co-worker states “Dave had a unique way of growing on one”. His unique wit and his wisdom were treasures he carried with him.” Truer words were never spoken.
When he wasn’t working away or in Round Island you could find Dave at the grocery store or hanging out at Schwartz Furniture in Glace Bay.
Dave is survived by his brother James (Elaine McQuarrie), nephew Chris, niece Heather (Chris Clark), and his bud and niece Erika (Joel Peach). He is also survived by great nieces Nevaeh and Wendie and great nephews Elijah and Ronan, uncles Donnie (Dianne) MacLennan and Gordie MacLennan. Special cousin Marion Ferguson and by other numerous cousins and lifelong friends especially Lorne Carabin, Danny MacKenzie and Danny Brushett.
Predeceased by his parents Donnie and Greta Kerr (MacLennan), and his brothers Brad and Ross.
