Charlene and family,

We were deeply saddened to hear of Donald’s sudden passing. He was a wonderful neighbour and a tremendous asset for the community who will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Charlene and family-sincere condolences to you and your family. Donald was one of Moriens “characters” for sure.  He had strong opinions but usually put his funny twist on them. He will be missed.

What can I say about Uncle Donald? He taught me to love fast cars, Irish and Scottish music, singing, cooking, and a million other things. He had his perch in the old house. On the bed with the remote and the Blue Jays game on. He was always proud of me and shared that often with me. I always knew I was the favorite nephew. 
I remember our fishing trips and the CONSTANT teasing. The Smiths vs. The Campbells. Going to the Speedway and everyone knowing him. Same was always true for John Angus. Respected and intelligent. I remember his print shop and all the work he put into it. I remember the hard times he went through and soldiered on. 
I remember him going around in the winter with only a damn plaid shirt on. I remember how excited he was about joining the Cape Breton Chordsmen and our chat about me playing with the Men of the Deeps back in 2007. I remember him singing beautifully on the organ in the old house and mastering every instrument he touched. I remember him winning at anything – crib, bowling, etc. 
And the spouting off on how great his Red Wings were. Ugh. Whatever. I recall him having the greatest relationship with our Dad and a completely different one with our Mom,  “For God’s sake, Margot!” we would hear with many interchanges. She loved him and he loved her deeply. They came from such humble roots and always had each other as siblings and great friends. And man he could just drive – drive for hours. Just to get there. 

I remember the cigarettes, the bacon grease, his propensity for Coca-Cola. The Celica Supra. The Sand Bar. Old 44. I remember him shooting the most amazing photos of so many birds. The Eagles. And his knowing that Cats rule the universe. 
I remember his voice, his smile, I remember him. I will always remember him. I am sorry I can not be there today and I hope you all know how much I love you. Good day sir.

So sorry to hear of Donald' s passing. He was always so friendly and helpful and loved to sing in his various choirs. Rest in peace and sing with the angels. Lorna and Eleanor

Charlene and family,  So sorry to read of Donald’s passing. He will forever hold a special place in my heart as the photographer of my wedding 47 years ago. And if I remember correctly he had a conflict in scheduling but he couldn’t say no to the Morien girl.  Hugs and Prayers to all ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
