

90, Glace Bay
With broken hearts, we the family regret to announce the passing of our Dad, on Saturday, May 29, 2010.
Da passed away peacefully in his daughter’s arms at Taigh na Mara, Glace Bay. Frank was the only child of the late Mary Frances (Murphy) and Steve Osmond of Glace Bay.
Upon returning home from serving overseas with the Nova Scotia Highlanders in the Second World War, Da was employed at No. 26 colliery as a coal miner. Da was an avid outdoorsman with a great passion for fly-fishing.
Left to mourn his loss are is his daughters, Maxine (Kevin) McNeil, Mira, Sharmen and Avelene, Halifax; sons, Eugene ‘Slick’ (Donelda), Glace Bay, Victor, Morien, Kevin (Eileen), Calgary; and special grandson, Frankie (Stacy), Calgary. Also surviving 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; his stepsister, Jeanette (Seymour), Glace Bay; and many nieces, nephews; and many friends along the way including the staff at the Taigh na Mara who always made Da feel ‘special.’
Besides his parents, Da was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Patongale), daughter, Donna, sons, Jim, Steve and Eddy, granddaughter, Lydia, stepsisters, Mamie and Lucy.
Memorial service will be held at Patten Funeral Home on Friday with visitation from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Burial at later date.
