It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful, unexpected passing of John Caines on Monday, March 19, 2018 in Glace Bay Hospital. Born to the late Harold and Esther (Harris) Caines on May 15, 1946. John is survived by his son Harold (Dawn), daughter Lesley Caines and step daughter Sheila, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as brother Jerry and sister Olive Vokey (Sam).

Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his wife Brenda, son Todd, brothers Leslie, Billy and Jimmy as well as sisters Shirley Dube and Rhoda Caines.

John was a quiet man who enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He worked as a coal miner for over 30 years.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00am at Patten Funeral Home with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.pattenfuneralhome.com.
