It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son Justin McNeil, on Sunday June 22, 2014 in Alberta. Justin earned his Angel Wings at the tender age of 19 due to a tragic accident on the High River in Okotoks, AB.

Born in Sydney, N.S. Justin is the son of Cathy and the late Charlie McNeil and Sheila MacLean and the J.J. MacLellan.

At the time of his passing Justin was employed with Cascade Carriers in AB while doing his apprenticeship for Heavy Equipment Mechanic at S.A.I.T. Polytechnic. Prior to taking his trade he was employed at Ward Tires in AB.

His true passion was his music; writing and performing, recently recording in studio for a cd release in Dec. 2014 under the name –The Kid- (ECP-East Coast Prodigy-Get’EM). Justin expressed himself to the world in his lyrics, rhyme, and rap. Spare time was spent at the gym, he was very proud of his physique and all the hard work he put into weight training with his uncle Kyle. Favorite hobbies included fishing, martial arts, playing guitar, and skateboarding. He had an appreciation of all art and was proud of his tatts “Life is What You Make It”, and “902”. He enjoyed life, family and friends, he was a proud caper.

Justin will always be remembered for his kind heart and the respect he showed to all he met. His big heart and compassion will forever leave footprints on our lives. All who loved him will treasure memories of his big grin and that contagious laugh will ring throughout this world by an angel taken way too soon.

Justin is survived by his moms, Cathy McNeil (Brent Campbell) and Sheila MacLean; sister Courtney; Brothers Jeremy, Robbie and Jacob; Grandparents; Leo and Marjorie McNeil, Glace Bay; Karen LeDrew, Sydney; George Stubbert, Glace Bay and Daniel Hollohan, AB. Along with many special Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephew Eli, and special friend Robert. Justin’s friends from 902 and 403, a humble Thank You, you will never be forgotten!

Justin is predeceased by his two Dads, Charlie McNeil and J.J. MacLellan and Grandmother Hope Stubbert.

Visitation for Justin will take place on Monday July 21 from 1-2pm at Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St, Glace Bay. Funeral service will follow at 2pm in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
