Mabel Florence Whiting

Born on August 16, 1920 in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Harriet Wadman.

Mabel was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and was active in the Senior Guild for many years. She loved the time she spent as a nurse’s aide at the Glace Bay General Hospital.

Mabel is survived by her sons; Ron (Rita), Dartmouth, Keith (Maurna), Tom (Lisa), Glace Bay, sister, Lex Davies, grandchildren; Jeff (Paige) Whiting, Dawn (Carl) Comeau, Ian (Pamela) Whiting, Kristin Whiting (Jack Chisholm), Collette Whiting (Steve Gardin), Cheryl Whiting (Terry Poole), Shane Whiting, Trevor Whiting, Kyle Whiting and Katherine Whiting and great grandchildren; Bailey and Madison Whiting, Mia Comeau, Savannah Gardin and Ava Whiting.

Besides her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her husband Thomas, by sisters, Lillian Lawless, Annie Louise Wadman, Marjorie Payne, Winnie Walker, Audrey Rowe and by great grandson, Oliver Whiting.

Visitation for Mabel will be held Friday, May 6,2011 from 6-9 pm at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
