It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Mary Theresa Lynk on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 at the Seaview Manor, which has been her home away from home for the past 8 years. Predeceased by her parents Walter and Mary Ann (Donovan) Chaisson as well as her husband Bernard Joseph, brothers Frank and Sonny, and sister Colleen.
Theresa is survived and will be missed by her children Bernice (Patrick) Livingston of Glace Bay, Beverly (Charlie) Hulme of New Waterford, Shirley (Richard) Robert of Ontario, Mary McInnis of Ontario, Darlene (Vince Snow) of Glace Bay, Bernie Lynk of Ontario, Margie (Arthur) Blois of Glace Bay, Tom (Danielle) of Ontario, Colleen (Bill) Hinchey of New Waterford, John (Joanne) Lynk of Newfoundland and Steven (Kate) Lynk of Dartmouth, 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Tom of Halifax, sisters Georgina (James) Merell and Shirley (Donnie) Coffin, sisters-in-law Gloria, Carmie, many nieces, nephews and extended family including Billy McInnis, Lise Robert, Franka, Cindy, Brenda and Anna.
Theresa loved to knit for hours, making clothes to give to friends and loved ones. She was a wonderful baker and made the best bread and biscuits. She loved playing darts at the Pensioner’s club, dancing at the Legion, working in her flower garden and watching her favourite soap operas.
Theresa’s home was always open for neighbours and friends to visit for tea or stay longer if they needed a place to stay. Growing up, she always had an extra person living with us. Her most cherished activity however was spending time with her grandchildren whom she shared a special bond with. She loved them with all her heart and they loved her, she even let them convince her to get a tattoo when she was 70.
A private family service will be held with a burial in the Holy Family Parish Cemetery in the spring. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting www.pattenfuneral.com. The family would also like to thank all of the staff of Seaview Manor for the excellent care over the last years, but especially her granddaughter-in-law Cristal MacNeil for being there when the family couldn’t and keeping us updated on her welfare.
