It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Richard "Richie" Boutilier, March 10th, 2024 at the young age of 51 at his home in Glace Bay. Richard was a father, brother, uncle, son and loyal friend who loved his family tremendously and accepted everyone with open arms. Richie was deeply devoted to the family restaurant business throughout his lifetime and because of that, he was a wonderful cook and it was something that he took great pride in. Business aside, Richie was also an authentic and unique man of many interests who just loved to have fun. Some of these interests include his weekly dart games that he absolutely could not miss, as well as camping in the summer heat. Richie enjoyed many games of pool and a good drink through the years in addition to infinite nights of singing and laughing around the campfire. Aside from his family, Richie's one true love and passion was the Toronto Maple Leafs and hockey nights spent with his brothers.
Richard is predeceased by his sister Necole, brother Chickie, loving father "Poppy" Clifford, and step-father "Poppy" Fred, as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Richie is survived by his two daughters, whom he loved more than anything, Sara (Kevin), and Morgan (David), as well as long time companion and mother of his children, Tanya. He is also survived by his mother Phyllis (Curtis), brothers Billy (Carrie), Piper, and Scott (Melissa), as well as his sister Sara, and sisters in law, Chrissy (John), Shirley (Billy), and Janey (Tim). Richie is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Alyssa (Seancie), Mikie (Santana), Becca (Logan), Hailey, Matt (Laura), Gordon (Grace), Kyle, Kayla (Cameron), Brandon (Erika), Breanna, Jeffery, Chloe, Madison and Brayden along with great nieces and nephews Mason, Garrett, Aaliyah, Hunter, Jaxon and Danny. He is also survived by many more friends and family including childhood friend Sheldon whom he referred to as "Shelly", and his best-friend/"beer buddy" John, who spent endless nights drinking and laughing alongside him.
Throughout Richie's life and interests he crossed paths with a multitude of people and touched countless hearts, making life-long friends along the way. Richie will be missed profoundly by all who knew him.
A private wake was held at Patten's for family and close friends of Richard. A church service will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 19th at St. Mary's in Glace Bay.
