Thomas Edison Donaldson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and uncle, Thomas Edison Donaldson "Eddie" or affectionately Papa Cory.

Eddie passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 at Taigh Na Mara in Glace Bay with his loving family by his side. Born on August 18, 1930 to the late Thomas and Catherine Donaldson, Eddie was a hard worker with a strong sense of community. He was a longtime member of Knox United Church and an active member of the Tyrian Youth Masonic Lodge of Glace Bay for 70 years and was a post master and district deputy for all of Cape Breton . Eddie worked for Nova Scotia power for 21 years where he retired. Eddie and Joyce also enjoyed camping and traveling especially anywhere warm.

Papa Cory is survived by his daughter Michele (Gary) Murphy, grandchildren Natasha, Gary (Rita) and Ashley, great grandchildren Riley (Macy), Jaxon, Jaleigh and Layla as well as great great granddaughter Lainey, nephews Allen, Don and Thomas and special family friend Todd. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce, siblings Roger, Laura and Erma and grandson Bernard Edison.

A Visitation will take place from 7-9pm on Wednesday, May 6 at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay and also from 11-1pm on Thursday with a funeral service taking place at 1pm., all from Patten Funeral Home.
