Born in Markland NFLD, he was the son of the late Chesley and Martha (Cooper) Reid.
Vernon worked for 22years with the Canadian Military as a Photographer, and 20 years as a Parish Priest spending time from 1998-2006 in the Anglican Diocese of Central Newfoundland and from 2006-2018 in the Anglican Diocese of N.S. and P.E.I. where he retired. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in the Collieries Parish, County of Cape Breton.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife Bong Sun You-Reid, daughters Natacha Reid and Nadine Reid; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister’s Yvonne (Paul) Greenberg and Anne (Bernard) Keating; brother Wayne (Carol) Reid.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother Clement.
In following Vernon’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday June 29, 2023 at 2pm in St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating with a luncheon to follow in St. Mary’s foyer, interment will take place at a later date in Chapel Arm Newfoundland. Service will be live streamed on Collieries Parish Group facebook page.
