Alexander “Alex” D. Mullins, 21 years old, of Gladstone, Missouri ended his life on August 7, 2016. Alex was born into this world on June 16, 1995 to Melissa Bottorff & Richard Mullins, Jr. in Olathe, Kansas. Alex was a North Kansas City High School Hornet graduating in May of 2014; the proud recipient of the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma. While at NKC he played Varsity Baseball, sang & danced his way through Harmonaires & was Vice President of the Missouri State Technology Students Association; just to name a few his many involvements. He was about to begin his junior year at Truman State University in what had become his second home of Kirksville, MO (aka “K-Vegas”). As a Truman State Bulldog he was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Lambda, Xi Chapter fraternity. He proudly & honorably served as House Manager in 2015. Alex is survived by his mother, Melissa, his father Richard; his “dad” Phillip; his sister Lauren; his brother Parker; his niece Lena; his grandparents, Mary & Dennis Davis, grandmother Sharon & one great-grandfather; along with so many other beloved family members. He is also survived by his sweet dog, Harper … the love of his life. He is preceded in death by his grandfather David & his great grandparents. Alex cannot be described in a few sentences but everyone that knew him would say he could make you laugh uncontrollably, would hug you most genuinely & love you completely without bounds. He overflowed with humor, sharp wit & often just impromptu wackiness that would surely a have silly face & contain made up sayings or even a random Disney song. He absolutely danced like no one was watching. He lived life large & on center stage. Alex was a truly remarkable, unforgettable, force of life. He was so very, very, very loved & will always be missed. A Celebration of Alex’s Life is being held Saturday, August 13 at Shoal Creek Community Church beginning at 1:00pm. All are welcome. The family asks that in lieu of flowers or cash you thoughtfully consider donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) http://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=115248. See link or find on Facebook. Information on how to donate, or join our team for a walk “Out of the Darkness” in October, will also be provided at the Celebration of Life.
