Alfred, known to many as Al, was born on July 27, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri to Albert and Josephine Maier. He had two siblings, Mary Gerald and Elain Shepard. Al attended Southeast High School. He was drafted in the army where he spent time as a cook. On September 19, 1980 he married his wife, Valeriana Teopaco Maier. Together they raised three children; Anjanette Castro, Giovanni Maier and Gary Maier.
Al worked at AT&T for 37 years where he retired. He then went on to work as a school bus driver for the North Kansas City School District for 15 years. Al was a dog lover and had a pilot license for small planes. He was also a member of the Gashland United Methodist Church since 1980.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Valeriana, three children (Angie,Van & Gary), three grandchildren (Andrew, Alexandria & Daniel) and his nephew Paul Gerard.
A funeral service for Alfred will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119, followed by a graveside service.
