Atha "Rita" Cooksey, 93, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, 2017. Rita was born in Lawrence, KS on January 15, 1924 to the late Howard and Wilma McKenzie. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Rita and her husband, Dale, were married for 74 years. Together they had three daughters, Barbara Shields, JoAnn (Dwight) Osborn and Joyce Tardie; four grandchildren, Craig Bammes, Tricia Nelson, Jason (Shannon) Ryan and Niesha Tardie; six great grandchildren, Neikko, Skyler and Jaden, Autumn and Cooper and McKenzie. A visitation will be at White Chapel Funeral Home, from 1:00 - 2:00pm, February 2, 2017, with funeral service at 2:00pm. A committal service will immediately follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
