Betty was born March 27, 1943, in Altus, Arkansas. Her parents were Vivian and Arven Johnson. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri but spent much of her childhood with extended family in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She graduated from Park Hill High School in Kansas City, MO in 1961.
After graduation Betty began to spend more time in Fayetteville. On New Years Eve 1961 she went on her first date with her future husband, Charles (Chuck) Wilson. They married on April 27, 1962, in Fayetteville and moved to Oklahoma. Later that same year they had their first daughter, Wendi. Betty and Chuck moved several times during the first decade of their marriage. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for a few years and it was there they welcomed their second daughter, Rainy. Eventually they moved to Dallas, Texas and welcomed their third daughter Misty. They spent the remainder of their lives in Dallas and eventually welcomed three grandchildren.
Betty was very creative. She was an excellent seamstress and could sew most anything from clothing to upholstery. She created many ceramic pieces through the years and was gifted in knitting, and macrame. She designed and was the contractor for a complete kitchen remodel and addition to her Dallas home. All of these things came easily to her, and she enjoyed it.
Betty was forever faithful to her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her parents, Vivian and Arven Johnson and her sister, Shirley Chamberlin.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Wendi Murray (Dean), Rainy Berry, and Misty Osborn (Chad); grandchildren, Chase Murray (Shayla), Carly Murray, and Ryan Berry; sister, Glenda Melvin (Mike); nieces, Daphne Shelton (Jim) and Tracy Wilson (Brad); nephews, Tim Mallen (Becky) and David Anderson; and several other nieces and nephews.
