A memory shared with uncle Bobby up the street from Penguin park I must've been around eight or nine years old ⛓we pulled an engine and transmission out of one of his project cars 🏎he love to do,, The ceiling was not tall enough to raise the engine completely out, " all the struggle and straining I asked what do we do now ,,, he looked at me with this cool calm look and smiled and said we will take the front tires off ,, and just like that the engine was out,,🔧 some of the techniques shared along the way I still use to this very day,,   Rick Tanner 

He was the best Uncle ever to me. And then he became my friend as I grew older. I loved him, I respected him and I learned from him!  I love and miss you Uncle Bobby and have so much love for you that when you went home you came by and took my mama with you!  I know she is safe and in good hands!  Thank You for being my hero! To the Tanner Family,
Mr. Tanner as I would sometimes call him but sometimes Bob would pass my lips.
Was a very interesting man. His knowledge of life in general was always to interesting. He loved clocks and you would sometimes here their chimes and listen for the different sounds they made.
He loved the older cars and liked to tinker with them.
Being told of his passing made me so sad, knowing I will never here "Well how as your weekend, do anything exciting?" But I will always remember Bob as a kind and ever so gentle man loving life and the love of Sharon and his family.
I am glad to say we were friends.

I started at The Victor L.Phillips Co. in 1978 and Bob was one of the first persons who welcomed me and spent time with me (learning) the business. Coming from the auto service business I had much to learn and Bob always gave me advice,details, and above all his knowledge to adjust. I’ll always remember the times we would spend in his office talking business and cars and winning the lottery and retirement. I miss those days and I always considered Bob a good friend and mentor. VLP has never been the same. God bless the Tanner family. 

My sorrow is for all of our family. Uncle bobby jo was one of a kind. He was a kind and loving and good person. He was stubborn at times but who isnt.  Only heard him raise his voice once or twice in all these years. And thats pretty good considering he has 4 kids. What i will always remember most is his twinkling eyes when he thought something was funny or when he was teasing someone..but especially when he was talking about "Sharon-isms." He loved you so much Aunt Sharon. And you spoiled him rotten because you loved him. He loved being around all of his family but his greatest joys was having big dinners surrounded by all of his kids. Thats what he was looking forward to when they built their house..room where they could all be together and still be able to move around. Will miss you so much Uncle Bobby Jo. Will seen you again i am sure.
