Carlos A. Ascensio

Carlos was born on March 5, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, Carlos spent his early years in the city that he would call home throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he pursued higher education at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. His career spanned multiple roles before retiring from Independence Power and Light.

Carlos is lovingly remembered by his wife, Verlene; brothers, Anthony (Joyce) and Sonny (Rosie); stepdaughter, Tina (Jeff); and grandchildren, Kathleen (Richard), Megan (Cameron), and a great-grandson, Titus. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Carmen Ascensio.

Later in life, Carlos embraced his faith as a Christian and firmly believed that the path to Heaven was through Our Lord Jesus Christ.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 6, 2025, at Gashland Baptist Church, located at 601 NE Barry Rd, Kansas City, Missouri, 64155. The service will begin at 4:00 PM. Following the celebration service, there will be a visitation/reception with the sharing of memories made with Carlos.

Carlos’ memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
