Born on March 9, 1929, in Cincinnati, Iowa, to Willis H. Harris and Edith May Harris (Bell), Cliff served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, fate led him to Irene Smith, the love of his life. They married on April 11, 1953, and established their home in Gladstone, Missouri, where they shared 40 wonderful years together.
Cliff dedicated 34 years of hard work as a mechanic at the Allis-Chalmers Combine plant in Independence, Missouri, retiring in 1991. He was a loyal member of the United Steel Workers Union. In their retirement years, Cliff and Irene enjoyed spending their winters in the warm Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
Cliff was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Irene, and his son-in-law, Gary Nelson. His memory will be treasured by his three children: Cathy Nelson, Lois Eckert (Gregg), and Todd Harris (Kim); his eight grandchildren; and his nineteen great-grandchildren.
