She was born Connie Carolyn Stubbs on May 4, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Floyd and Earnestine Stubbs (Carpenter), who preceded her in death. Connie graduated from Park Hill High School in 1969 and worked for Hallmark Cards for 27 years. She was a member of Orrick Christian Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Connie was a creative, caring, and kind-hearted woman who had a knack for making everyone around her feel encouraged and supported. She had a deep love for antiques, a sharp sense of humor, and was known for her delightfully odd stocking stuffer gifts that became a cherished family tradition. She enjoyed attending blues concerts and spending time with the people she loved. Fiercely independent in every aspect of her life, Connie stood her ground with quiet strength and grace. She believed in doing things her own way, and she always looked out for those she loved—especially her children and grandchildren—with unwavering support and belief in their potential. Her strength, loyalty, and love shaped her family and inspired those who knew her. She was deeply loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Boren; her three children, Brian (Christina) Crigger; Jacob (Rosa) Criggedorn and their daughters Ripley, Susannah, and Zelda; and Rebecca (Mike) Troyer (Crigger) and her son, Skyler Blacksher and their son Gavin Troyer. She is also survived by her brothers, Steve Stubbs and Tim Stubbs (Robbie); her sister-in-law, Julia Nesselhuf (Boren); and her honorary brother, Jim Baker, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
