Constance was born at home in South KC on February 10, 1932 to Clyde Leroy Shields and Hellen Mae Constance. She attended East High School where she graduated from. She then went to college in Warrensburg studying for a degree in music. This is where she met her husband Hugh Inman (1925 - 2017). She continued her education at Park College and Baker University and Kansas University. Her passion for music led her to be an organist at Gashland Methodist Church. She taught at Bryant Elementary in Kansas for four years and then taught at Renner Elementary in the Park Hill School District from 1968 to 1995.
Constance was a lobbyist for the N.E.A., also serving as President. She loved the mountains and enjoyed many family vacations spent in Colorado. She backpacked and canoned during these travels. She has driven Jeeps in the mountains and rode a motorcycle belonging to her son. Constance also helped with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She had a loving heard and never had a crossword to say about anybody.
A visitation for Constance will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 with a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow, all at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119.
