

Craig Rhys Humphreys Sr., of Gladstone, Missouri (formerly of Roseville, Minnesota), passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family at NorthCare Hospice at North Kansas City Hospital.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Rhys and Lurinda Humphreys, Craig graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1965. Shortly after, he began his career with BNSF Railway, where he worked for 42 years. He was deeply loved for his kindness, gentle humor, and unwavering support of his family.
Craig had a lifelong passion for trains, classic cars, sports, and a fondness for visiting the Minnesota State Fair. But more than anything, Craig was a storyteller. He had an unmatched gift for bringing the past to life — whether it was tales from his childhood, adventures from his railroad days, or memories of the people he loved.
In his later years, Craig found his greatest joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lived through their stories, accomplishments, and laughter, always offering his steady presence and warm encouragement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Jeannette (Burns) Humphreys; his son, David Humphreys; and siblings, Allison Darst and Fay Humphreys.
Craig is survived by his children, Craig Humphreys Jr.; Tamara (Humphreys) McCale (Mark); Cheri (Humphreys) Jennings (Dennis); nine grandchildren, Dana, Joseph, Christopher, Jack , Mikayla, Madison, Raquel, Jennifer, and Janelle; and eight great-grandchildren, Ivory, Aviana, Estella, Dahlia, Oliver, Connor, Eoghan, and Oliver. He is also survived by his sisters, Gale Reller, Robyn Erny (Brian), his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Backer, and many nieces and nephews.
Craig’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him — in every shared story, every smile, and every moment spent with loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM,at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119, followed by inurnment in the White Chapel Cemetery.
