The world lost a beautiful man and a kind soul with the passing of Danny R. Greenwood, 56, of Gladstone, MO, on 2/18/16. Known for his integrity and desire to put others’ needs before his own, Danny was a caring and patient man who always had good things to say. That is, except when he would unleash a sense of humor so dry that only a fortunate few could react with a chuckle rather than a shake of the head. Danny was born 3/31/59, the son of Howard and Marry Greenwood. He worked in the Environmental Service Department of several great employers, North Kansas City School District, and Children’s Mercy Urgent Care Clinic. Danny began a productive Lawn Care Service when his children were young. He also spent many days, weeks, years working for Northcross United Methodist Church, he enjoyed ensuring a safe environment for all of God’s children.AIR Danny’s conscientious approach to his job mirrored his life at home. “Pops” went out of his way to make sure his fellow employees, friends, and family were safe. Danny did everything through hard-work, believing anything less than his best was a waste of time and talent. First and foremost, Danny was an infinitely dedicated and loving husband to his soulmate and best friend of 31 years, Tina. He was extraordinarily handsome, with sparkling blue eyes that could melt your heart. Danny enjoyed a variety of passions in life, including model Ford Mustangs, woodworking, lawn maintenance. With a led foot Danny excelled in racing; any sort of machine with a motor, Danny was superb. He enjoyed numerous Saturday’s at I-35 Speedway and enjoyed being a spectator at Wheatland’s Lucas Oil Speedway, where he made an annual trip with Tina to watch the World of Outlaw Sprint cars. Always the builder, Danny used his extensive skills to beautifully remodel the outside of the house’s landscape. He owned a garage full of every saw and tool imaginable. He would work endlessly to repair damage to his Sprint car the day after racing. It was as if, racing made his internal clock “tick”. Danny will be remembered as a great guy who the world only saw with a smile on his face and a helping hand.
