David Lee Pont

He was born on February 1, 1931 in Stanton, Nebraska to Edward and Ethel Pont and was the first born of 5 children.

In 1941, his father relocated the family to Baltimore, Maryland. They again relocated in 1948 to St. Louis, Missouri where his father worked for McDonnell Douglas.

He graduated high school in 1950 and joined the United States Marines in 1951, serving until 1954. He reached the rank of Sergeant.

Upon his return from military service, David worked at Remmert-Werner in St. Louis, Missouri. While attending a Halloween party, he met Marlene (Arnold) Pont. They were married in 1956 and were married for 64 years. They had four children.

David relocated the family to Kansas City, Missouri when he accepted a position as an Airline Mechanic with TWA. He retired from TWA in 1994.

After retirement, he and Marlene traveled and spent time with family. David enjoyed rose and flower gardening and bird watching as well as enjoying the companionship of his family and cats. In celebration of their 50th anniversary they took a cruise to Alaska.

David attended Evangelistic Center Church faithfully for 40+ years and served the church in many different roles. He loved God, the church and his church family.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Castrianni.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughter Gail Hunter (Roy) of Holt, Missouri; daughter Cathy Emmons (Rick) of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; daughter Rhonda Sackett (Michael), and son Brett Pont (Andrea), both of Kansas City, Missouri. He leaves sisters LaVonne Arnold, Lynette Tapella, Elaine Steinborn and brother Michael Pont as well as 15 grandchildren, Charity Hunter, Michael Castrianni, Maria Combs (Chris), Kyle Emmons, Kendra Taylor (James), Andrea Routson (Joel), Shelley DelGado (Sean), Andrew Sackett, Billy Hunter, Sammy Joe Grisafe-Pont (Melissa), Kelsey Crafton (Tyler), Jesse Sackett, AnnaMarie Grisafe-Pont, Christopher Grisafe-Pont, Dominic Grisafe-Pont, and 7 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation at 2:00 pm prior to services.

Memorial donations are suggested to Evangelistic Center Church in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
