

Deann (Pinkerton) Anderson, age 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at North Kansas City Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 1, 1956, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Deann was the cherished daughter of Otis and Mary Lou (Smith) Pinkerton.
Deann’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to education and her passion for helping others. Following her studies at Emporia State University, she began her career as a teacher, inspiring countless students with her kindness and commitment to their growth. After retiring, her thirst for knowledge led her back to the classroom, where she pursued a master’s degree in counseling at the University of Missouri Kansas City. This new chapter allowed her to touch even more lives, guiding individuals through their challenges with compassion and understanding.
In her personal life, Deann found joy and fulfillment in her role as a mother. She married Les Anderson, and together they welcomed two wonderful sons, Samuel and Charles, who were the pride and joy of her life. Deann’s love extended to her three grandsons, Mikey, Wesley, and Fire, who brought her immeasurable happiness and laughter.
Deann had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, and her passion for flowers and gardening was evident in her stunning yard, which was often admired by neighbors and friends alike. She took great pride in her garden, creating a vibrant oasis that reflected her nurturing spirit.
A devoted fan of Joan Rivers, Deann had a special place in her heart for Hollywood gossip and the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world. Her treasured signed photo of Joan Rivers was a testament to her admiration for the iconic comedian, and she loved sharing stories and laughter about the latest happenings in Hollywood.
Deann was preceded in death by her father, Otis Pinkerton; her sister, Carolyn Hersman; her brother, Mike Pinkerton; and her ex-husband, Les Anderson.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Mary Lou Pinkerton; her two beloved sons, Sam Anderson and his wife Becky, and Charlie Anderson; her three grandsons, Mikey, Wesley, and Fire Anderson; her brother-in-law, Jimmy Hersman; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
A visitation to honor Deann’s life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, located at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives. The family requests any monetary donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation in honor of Deann.
Deann Anderson will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
