Mrs. Dixie Sherlock

Dixie Lee Sherlock, 78, Kansas City, Missour, died Sunday, June 25 in an auto accident in Lodge Grass, MT. Dixie was born July 18, 1939 in N. Kansas City, MO to Robert K. and Katherine E. Ballard. She married her high school sweetheart, Zenas Marshall Sherlock, Jr. on September 29. 1959. Dixie worked as a secretary for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT while Marshall was in the US Navy. When returning to Kansas City she worked for both Kissick Truck Lines & Orscheln Truck Lines where she was a member of the KC Traffic Club, retiring from Consolidated Freightways. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Liberty, MO. She loved gardening and quilting & belonged to several garden clubs and quilting guilds. She loved to volunteer and was quick to offer assistance to everyone. Dixie is survived by her husband, Z. Marshall, Jr., their three children: Deborah Lee Sherlock, Zenas Marshall Sherlock III (Rachel) & Lonnie R. Sherlock (Jennifer), four grandchildren: Z. Marshall Sherlock IV (Megan), Katherine C. Springer (Lee), Corey James Sherlock, Casey Jo Sherlock & Jordan Burkey, six great grandchildren, and brother Robert J. Ballard (Sharon) of Laurie, MO. The family is very grateful and wants to thank everyone for their prayers, phone calls, support & visits these last few months. Services will be held September 30 at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, MO. Visitation is set for 11:00am and funeral service at noon.
