He was born to Burleigh and Bertha Prock on January 1, 1943. Don graduated from North Kansas City High School after which he went to work for the Coast To Coast Warehouse. He then enlisted in the United States Navy.
Don married Barbara Irene Hedrick on January 29, 1966, at the Independence Boulevard Christian Church, in Kansas City, Missouri. After being discharged from the military, he returned to Kansas City to work in the Coast To Coast Warehouse. The Prock’s later moved to Alma, Nebraska in 1976 and opened up their own Coast To Coast Store. They moved to Lexington, Nebraska and opened up another store then later moved to Berryville, Arkansas to be closer to family.
They moved to Kansas City and went to work for Accent Merchandising and True Value to merchandise hardware stores until 2018.
Don was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burleigh and Bertha Prock.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Prock, of the home; his son, Russ Prock and wife Tammy, of North Platte, Nebraska; and his daughter, Kelley of Kansas City, Missouri.
A visitation for Don will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with funeral services starting at 2:00 PM, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119. Military Honors will follow in the White Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice or to NorthCare Hospice House.
