Dorcas was born November 11, 1932 in Hardin, MO to Curtis and Viola (Bailey) Dotson, and was the oldest of two girls. The family moved to Kansas City in 1935 when her sister, Shirley Maxine, was born. After attending Sanford B. Ladd and Gashland Elementary schools, she graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1951. It was during that time she met the love of her life, Frederick Eugene (Gene) Allen, and they were married on December 27, 1953 at Barry Christian Church.
While Gene was in the Navy, Dorcas worked in the secretarial field. After Gene returned home, their family began to grow and they welcomed three children, Vicki, Kevin and David. Dorcas became a mother and housewife until their children were of school age, then she returned to work as an Office Manager with Romey Electric, until her retirement in 1982. Dorcas grew up attending Barry Christian Church and accepted the Lord at age 12 and lived her life loving and serving the Lord. She became a member of Northland Cathedral Assembly of God Church in Kansas City, MO in 1991 where she joyfully served in many volunteer roles over the years.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Gene; her sister Shirley Turner; son Kevin Eugene Allen; daughter-in-law Kate Allen; granddaughters Kayla and Kerri Allen.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Sue Kindred of Ferrelview, MO, and son David Kurt Allen of Kansas City, MO; four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
