Mr. Erasmo Anselmo, 81 years old, died peacefully after a near 11-year battle with a cancer on Saturday November 29, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital North. Erasmo was born on July 11, 1944 in Camporeale, Sicily to Erasmo Anselmo and Maria Mistretta. Erasmo (his father) passed away before Erasmo (son) was born. Erasmo was raised by his mother along with his older sister Maria Antonia and brother Carl. Erasmo came to the United States in 1968 with little education or money and did not speak English. Through hard work and dedication to his family he truly lived the American Dream and could not be prouder of it. Erasmo met the love of his life Rachel (Sola) married for 57 years until the time of his death. Erasmo’s dedication to his family, especially to his wife, should be an inspiration to all. Erasmo retired from the CertainTeed Saint-Gobain Corporation in the Fairfax District in Kansas City, Kansas where he worked as a laborer. This was jokingly his second home where he worked many 12- and 16-hour days to provide for his family. His work ethic was unmatched and was an inspiration to many. Erasmo was a man of faith. He was an active member of Holy Cross in the Northeast part of Kansas City as well as St Andrew the Apostle Church in Gladstone, Missouri and St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri. He had an infectious smile and laugh that that will never be forgotten. When he smiled and laughed, it was hard not to smile and laugh with him. People were drawn to him because of this beautiful trait. He will be fondly remembered because of it. He loved food! A good meal was always a topic of discussion. After a 16 hour shift with another 16 hour shift only a few hours away, the comfort of a dish of pasta would soothe his soul. His dedication to his family, always doing the best he could in the ways he thought was best was an inspiration. He will be missed by those he has left behind.
Erasmo was preceded in death by his mother Maria Mistretta, father Erasmo Anselmo, brother Carl Anselmo, mother-in-law Lena Sola, father-in-law Matteo Sola and sister-in-law Katherine Sola.
