

Gene was born Sept 3, 1928 to Frank and Rannie (Keeter) DePriest in Fulton County, Arkansas. Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kearney, where he resided on his farm for 50 years. Gene was also a member of the American Legion.
Gene always worked hard. He loved farming and his farm animals, yet he always had time for his family.
Gene joined the Marines in his teens, sold Knapp shoes on the side while working for GM and the KC Southern Railroad, from which he retired. Later he drove Fleet cars for Cox Enterprises.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Belle (Holt) DePriest, his parents, 7 siblings and two children, Michael Eugene and Christine Joyce.
Gene is survived by 4 children; Dennis E. (Diana) of Liberty, MO; Willie S. of Kansas City, MO; Linda K (Ben) Mefford of Weston, MO; Leann (Jacob) McDowell of Liberty, MO. 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister, Wilma Cockrum of Warsaw, MO.
Visitation is at 10:00am June 18 with service at 11:00 at White Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will be at East Slope Cemetery.
