Fran was born in Suffolk, New York, on July 6, 1935, daughter of the late Louis Ihm and Frances Mary White. She grew up in Florida with her brother, Louis and sister, Carolyn with their foster family. Fran moved to Kansas City and met Harold Lewey and they had three children, Terry, Jeff and Rick. She and Harold divorced and Fran met and married James Joseph Alexander in 1969. Fran and Joe moved to Illinois to work for the Federal Aviation Administration where she worked for them for over 25 years.
She was a “Bingo Shark”, loved playing and calling the game! If there was a bingo game happening she would be playing. In fact, she played bingo the Thursday before she passed. Fran was an excellent painter. She has many paintings that her grandchildren helped her paint that are cherished treasures. Fran was a lifeguard and great swimmer. You knew she liked you when she called you “brat”. Her kids remember gathering with family and friends, the adults would play cards for hours and the kids . . . playing games and getting into mischief. Fran loved a gadget, so she was a frequent shopper for QVC and as seen on TV! She always offered everyone a pop, was always excited about chocolate and had the best sense of humor. She loved her grandchildren and helped care for them when they were little. Fran’s grandkids have priceless memories they cherish.
Fran is preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Alexander, two sisters, Carolyn and Judith. She is survived by a brother, Louis Joseph Ihm Jr.; a daughter, Terry Lewey, and her wife, Tina Hunter, of Wayland, Iowa; two sons, Jeffrey Lewey and his wife, Susan, of Cameron, MO, and Richard Lewey and his wife, Mary, of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Lewey, RiKayla Neale and her husband, Steven, Zeffery Lewey, Tanner Lewey, Abby Lewey, Becky Lewey and Cassy Lewey; and several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you play a game of bingo, watch forensic files or a Christmas Hallmark movie!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.dwnwhitechapel.com for the Alexander family.
