His perseverance, positivity and zest for life inspired all who know him.
Gary was born on November 13, 1952 to Esther and Theodore Pike. He graduated in 1971 from Oak Park High School and attended Maple Woods Community College. He worked as a pressman at Antioch Printing for many years. He married the love of his live, Nancy Collier Pike, on June 5, 1976 - a decision he considered the best of his life. They shared a love of family and friends, the mountains, and the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Everyone looked forward to Gary’s taco dinners, featuring his own special Nanita’s taco sauce, filled with laughter among family and friends. His distinctive laugh was robust and contagious. It came from somewhere deep within his soul and connected everyone who ever heard it to him for eternity.
Gary’s finest quality was his capacity for great love and friendship. A proud husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his devoted wife Nancy, children Ryann Pike, Mathew Pike, and daughter-in-law Sarah Pike of the Kansas City area. He is also survived by his five grandsons, Isaiah (18), Kaleb (17), Taylor (17), Parker (14), and Micah (13) who were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Melanie Pike.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to American Cancer Association or the Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City.
