

Gary Lynn Turnquist, 66, Has passed to his rest with the Lord after a long illness on the 27th of August, 2015, at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. Gary is survived by his son, Roger W. Turnquist, of Lanesville, Indiana, his aunt Ursula Casida, of Overland Park, Kansas, and his cousins Robert Casida and Michelle (Casida) Hill. He is preceded in death by his parents, William C. Turnquist and Aldeen (Casida) Turnquist, of Prescott, Kansas. Gary was born on October 8, 1948 in Fort Scott, Kansas to parents William and Aldeen Turnquist. He graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, completed training as a jet engine mechanic. Following his military service, he enrolled at Baker Aviation to obtain his F.A.A. Airframe and Powerplant License. In March of 1986, he started work at Trans World Airlines, Kansas City Overhaul Base, and after 22 years of service, he retired in November of 2008. Gary was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator, KA0DPF, and participated in mobile communications, built antennas, and encouraged others to share in radio as a hobby. This later interest in electronics led him to be involved with the sound and recording systems of his church, Sheffield Assembly of God. He was kind to all he met and his family and friends will always remember him as honest and caring person. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 11, at 6 P.M.
