Gogo moved to the United States in 1989, working various jobs while attending school. He would later go on to graduate with his Master’s in Education. In 1990, he met his future soulmate and wife, Kelly. The two united in marriage on June 5, 2004. This union blessed them with two children, Keegan and Kenison. This union also was blessed with a stepson David who Gogo always treated as his biological child. If anyone asked how many children he had, he would tell you three.
At the time of his death, Gogo was employed at KVC Niles Prep as a Special Education teacher. His co-workers and students coined him the King of lecturers. His students and co-workers will forever remember him for his kind and genuine spirit.
Gogo loved the color royal blue and was an avid soccer fan. He spent multiple hours watching soccer; if he were alive today, he would be watching the World Cup. Attending Sporting KC games was one of his favorite past times. Another of his favorite things to do was talk; he loved engaging people in all political-related subjects. He had a special knack for sharing his knowledge and making sure to provide meaningful information to help others succeed. Anyone can tell you he loved to talk and was good at it.
Gogo was a loving husband. His wife Kelly will miss how he used to wake up in the morning full of energy, ready and optimistic to start the day. He was a great Father. His children can tell you he never missed an opportunity to give life lectures and encouragement. His Mother-in-law, Kay, would tell you how much she enjoyed his visits and conversation about politics and sports. They would always talk about them, Chiefs! To Kai and Lyric, he was “Papa. They will miss him picking them up from school in the car line. Gogo and his sister Norma talked several times a week. He appreciated that she never hesitated to cook his native food for him. He often times said how Norma was more of a Mother to him than a sister.
Gogo was a fun, witty, caring individual who loved life. Gogo’s faith was important to him; he was a longtime and active Christ Temple North Church member. This is where you would find him every Saturday morning, cleaning the church for over 15 years.
On Sunday mornings, he would make it a point to get to church early to converse with people.
