Rhonda and family.  I am so sorry for your loss.  My son works at SHB, and told me Graham was your son.  My prayers  are with you.  We cannot sometimes understand why, but rest assure he is in the arms of Jesus, and you will see him again.

I am so deeply sorry for the loss  Graham Hoffman. I did not know him personally, however his impact on me, in the moments I knew him, was profound. The day of my car accident was 1/15/2024. The weather was icy and I rolled my little truck just outside Lee Summit. My dogs Sage and Xena were in the truck. Sage ran from the scene and Xena’s body was found under my truck. Graham saw my rage, sorrow, and fear as the officer on scene suggested that her body just be “thrown in the back of the truck.” He advocated for her body to go back to the station to be picked up by my family. He made sure her body was respected, something I greatly appreciate. He grounded me so very much in those moments, which I greatly needed. His impact on my life altering accident, was phenomenal. I am heartbroken to hear of his passing, and horrified of the way it occurred. 

To bring closure to all who was involved in my accident, unfortunately Sage was found the following morning, passed away on the side of the highway a little ways from the scene. I was physically fine other than bruising and a mild concussion. Mentally, I struggled a lot with the deaths of my dogs and the changes associated with the concussion. However, ultimately, I finished my veterinary schooling, and I became a doctor. Thank you for everything you do! Stay strong. There are so many out there, that appreciate everything you do!

I am a retired paramedic from KCFD and formerly MAST. Although I did not know Graham, my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you, his family. I pray God will give you His comfort and peace that passes all understanding.

Graham was a good good friend of our family. Such a nice young man 🙏

Graham and his brother Nolan were my neighbors growing up in Parkville. We spent many an afternoon and summer day playing outside, shooting hoops, and running up and down our street. I even babysat Graham and Nolan one summer. I’ll remember his mischievous grin, love of popsicles, and sweet nature. It’s beautiful to see the man he became and so tragic to see his life cut short. My heart goes out to his dear family. Graham, may you rest in peace.

Graham, my first ever “classmate”. We may have been closest when we were literal babies all those years ago at Joy’s, but even in our time together at South, it was clear you were growing into an incredibly good man. I’m sorry your time here was so heartbreakingly short. I doubt you ever knew how much of an impact you had on the world around you. My prayers are with you, your family, and everyone who is hurting from this tragic loss.

I didn’t know your Don but as a Chaplain for a Fire Department I certainly know his dedication to the job is a clear indication of the man you raised. May God hold each of you in his arms during this difficult time.

I never got to meet Graham in person, but I had 42 years in law enforcement and had First Responder Family all over the KC area. Sad loss, RIP BROTHER.

Sadly, there are no words that can take away the hurt that all of you his family have right now. And yes, your hurt will be with you each day until you take back your control of your life. But you will hurt less once you learn to live with only the goodness, kindness, love that you had for Graham in your life as the memories you will chose to recall. There is no vengeance that would lessen your hurt so please don't dwell on vengeance. Vengeance will happen & if that is in your heart then your heart will have not enough room for all of the great things Graham has to fill your hearts with. I never met your son. I retired in 2000 from KCMO FD.
I am just an old man that has felt hurting from a loved one's death way to soon. A senseless death is a tragedy that causes your mind to ponder what, why, if this or if that about things that won't change the loss of your loved one.
So when you start down that road change the lane to the one that has memories of love he had & you had for each other.
You know that Graham would want you to be happy in your life so do it for him please.

We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers, and pray you find comfort in the many memories you have of Graham.  Our hearts break for you all.  He sounds like an amazing young man who was raised by some amazing parents.  We have two son-in-laws who are firefighters and EMTs/Paramedic (one in Olathe and one in Lawrence).  There are so many sons and daughters, fathers and mothers that put on that uniform and risk their lives day in and day out to help and care of others.  They should never have to worry about someone hurting them but they do.  This is an unbelievable tragedy l.  We are so sorry very sorry for your loss.
